25 Blue Years – live at Rock Cafe (UndCD 04)
Blues Basement celebrated 25 years of playing the blues at Rock Cafe in Bodø,
Norway, in December, 2010. The 8th CD from the band features this concert.
The 13 tracks span from classic blues songs to music composed by the band.
The record shows the range of the blues: from warm and intense ballads, to
Chicago shuffle, swing blues, and raw blues rock. Besides the basic 2011 line-up,
several guests join in the blues party to provide variation and some real highs.
Blues Basement is proud to have co-operated with two major international blues
producers Mike Vernon (Blue Horizon) on “Blues Power” (1993), and Bruce
Iglauer (Alligator Records) on “Where the eagle flies”, Unplugged (1996). Mike
Vernon’s composition “Red Dress” is included on this live production.
Blues is all about soul, intensity, rhythm, power, and feeling good - even when
you start the evening feeling down! A dose of Arctic blues from Northern Norway
keeps the doctor away – both night and day…. John Lee Hooker said it: “blues is
the healer”!
On Live at Rock Café Blues Basement walks down memory lane, for a while, OK.
But the band also looks ahead - continuing its lifelong love affair with the blues.
